During the Koch Administration, city contracted businesses had to sign a “non-discrimination” clause which included gays and lesbians. The Salvation Army refused based on religious beliefs. Koch told them they weren’t the only service org in town and if I remember correctly he fired them. I haven’t donated a single thread to them since. HOUSING WORKS gets all of my donations. Down with religious dogma.

Isn’t it about time the Ancient Order of Hibernians (the Fascist face of Irish Conservativism) get off of their high moral horses and include their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer and questioning bretheren and sistheren into the fold of Irish Pride as do their more enlightened European Irish predecessors on the other side of the pond?

All within a few blocks from one another in Brooklyn are moving vans as prostheletizing vehicles – literally. My Vincenzo has a great contractor’s joke: “The Lord is coming – REPAINT!”
As the Florida state board of education prepared to consider a final draft of a new set of state science standards, Floridians offered their opinions at a last-minute meeting held in Orlando on February 11, 2008. Over eighty speakers addressed the state commissioner of education, Eric Smith, and, via webcast, the board. A video of the entire meeting is available on the department’s website. As the Orlando Sentinel (February 12, 2008) reported, “They came from one end of Florida to the other, and with views on evolution as far apart as the 800 miles that separate the Keys from the Panhandle.” Observers estimated that there were about twice as many speakers opposing the treatment of evolution in the new standards as there were speakers who applauded it. – National Center for Science Education
