At one time, the area east of Nostrand & Flatbush Junction between Avenue H & Glenwood was called College Glen and patrolled by civilians in cooperation with the N.Y.P.D. There is also a remnant of an old street sign on the right of the electric pole.

Recently, I was fortunate enough to have been contacted by George Throop  through our Brooklyn College Inn Facebook page for our bed and breakfast to ask if we would host him for a couple of nights. Here is Georges’s story:

In September of 2009, I began a multi-year Walk of Inspiration Across America. I’ve walked thousands of miles, from my home in Washington State, to our nation’s capital: Washington, D.C. I completed my mission upon reaching D.C. on foot this summer. That said, after walking countless miles along the shores of the Pacific, I’ve felt compelled to journey onward–to the sands of the Atlantic–which I’ll soon reach via Long Island, New York. Taking countless steps across America, I hope to inspire you to take strong, positive steps forward into greater personal growth in your life.Enjoy The Walk
