I heard you on the Leonard Lopate show, and thought you might enjoy seeing this picture I took on vacation in June 2011 on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State.  Like you, I find these ads beautiful and interesting.

Best of luck with your work.

I heard that the fence in the illustration was placed there to cover the bull’s private parts after the original picture had been deemed too graphic for some people…

I have a Poster that has two Black Kids kissing on a fence with two holes in umberlla with a pack of cigs. and a pipe too smoke the tobacco in the Black boy pocket, it sayson top left :”My! It ahure am Sweet . On the fence they are sitting on Says on the the top: Standard for Three Generations; The middle of the fence says: Genuine BULL DURHAM ; and last but not least the botton of the fence says: SMOKING TOBACCO. Not a clue Kimberly. Would you be able to take a picture of it? Make sure you are perpendicular to the image so there is no distortion of the frame. I’ll pass it along or post it so people can give you feedback. Best, Frank

I have the same poster with the 2 black people on the fence. My research states the poster was made in the early 1920’s to early 1930’s. The poster I have is in excellent shape and I would also like to know the value. Thanks.
