We arrived in Seattle this summer during an unusual heat wave. It reached close to 100ºF that day and was close to 116ºF later that week in Portland, OR. Who could eat meat?

There are several layers on this wall of what I call pentimentos (see Fading Ad Vocabulary). On the right, perhaps I see a saxophone or brass instrument. On the lower left, perhaps I see the word GAS. I can’t make out the manufacturer of the “builder of hats.” Any clues? What do you see?
