Hi Frank,
Thanks for the photo of your Oma at Zandfoort. Do you know the year approximately? I am working on writing up stories about my mother who is from Amsterdam, including a few episodes that took place in Zandfoort. I think she is younger than your grandmother, but we have pictures of my mom with those big bows in her hair too.
Incidentally, I also started photographing old ads on external building walls in downtown Vancouver, B.C. where I live. Unfortunately I haven’t done anything with them but you’ve inspired me to dig them out again and do something with them – maybe a museum exhibit.
Hey DJ- Tried replying a number of times but always got sidetracked. I’m finishing up the corrections for my upcoming book and excited about planning the book release party. My Oma, Johanna Fokkens was 13 around 1921. My mother was born fifteen years later before the German occupation of Amsterdam. So many stories. Good luck with your venture. Here’s a pic of me in 1978 in Zandvoort. Looking forward to seeing some of your images! I’ll feature them. Best, Frank
Hi again Frank,
No luck yet in tracking down my old images of historical ads on buildings here in Vancouver 🙁
But I was wondering if I could use your image of your grandmother on the beach at Zandfoort in my mom’s memoirs? I will just be distributing it to family members – maybe 20 copies.
Let me know and if there is some kind of compensation you would like for it. I will give you credit of course.
Thanks!
DJ
