Dear Mr. Frank,
Are those plaid stamps? For the love of Pete! I haven’t seen one of those since Ford was passing out a pardon to an infamous ex-presidential crook! You really are out there looking under rocks for the old ghosts of our childhoods! (We actually were a green stamp family. I think they had a deal with the A&P.)
Anyway, I also want to ask a favor. Remember you posted that jazzed up pigeon for me a few months ago? Do you think I can use it (with copious credits, of course!) for my Facebook page. It would be great if you could donate this piece of your beautiful digital artwork…for the benefit of fellow blogger. I mean really, Frank. You’ve seen my Pigeon pic on my blog. What a street-rat! I won’t get friends on Facebook looking like that! I must be dressed up by Frank Jump for that kind of exposure. So, please, please send me a .jpg!
Cheers,
Flatbush Pigeon
P.S. What is it about you that makes me go off on a tirade?

Dear Pigeon-
Here is the link to the image: http://www.fadingad.com/blog/brooklyn/pigeon.jpg
You are more than welcomed to use it.
Here’s a link to your Green Stamps: http://fadingad.wordpress.com/2007/12/02/s-h-green-stamps-clark-bros-dept-store-pittston-ave-moosic-pa/
I remember in Laurelton, Queens we were big on Bohacks. Then we moved to Howard Beach (pronounced “Howid Beeeech”) where Julia Waldbaums was Queen- although my heart belonged to Queen Juliana.
Tirade? I call it friendly banter. Now Miss Heather can go off on a tirade! LOL

Thanks Frank! XO back at cha.
Actually, I think …Green Stamps was linked to Bohack’s, right? Bohack’s, the A&P, Waldbaum’s, Plaid Stamps, Green Stamps! Why are you always pestering old ghosts? (Now if you could resurrect a fresh loaf of Grossinger’s rye with seeds, I’d knight thee “King of Flatbush”!)
BTW, gowanus lounge has a shot of a displaced plaid stamps sign on 5th Avenue today. Is that where you got your shot?

Speaking of that delicious Grossingers seeded rye, where can I find at least a picture ??
I’m sure my mother still has a loaf in the freezer.
