OUCH! Bandwidth Overage Charges Hit Fading Ad Blog Hard

We have been so popular lately (thank you) that we seriously went over our bandwidth allotment with Earthlink (by the end of February, we may rack up thousands in overage charges). Earthlink is not willing to negotiate and we need to rethink our ten year relationship with them.

But in the meantime, at the risk of sounding desperate, we are asking for donations if we have ever enjoyed this site. Please visit our PayPal donation account. Your pennies will either make a difference or else we will HAVE to sell the crown jewels.

Perhaps we need to make our images less lush (in megabytes) and find a server company that isn’t so expensive and unreasonable. Any bloggerly advice would be surely welcomed. Maybe we even have to ADVERTISE! Heavens the thought – a blog about advertising advertising!

This shop was across the street from the Chamber Street mannikins I posted last summer. Racked.com reported in May 2007:

Tribeca: Ralph’s Discount City, which we glean from Downtown Express was one of the last great cheapie grocery/convenience stores south of Canal Street, has closed up shop for good. The store, located at 91-95 Chambers Street, will be torn down to make way for a 6-story condo building from developer S. Myles Group. [Downtown Express]

I found this photo on Waymarking.com posted by HaLiJuSaPa. Below is their description:

The ad is for Ruppert Beer, a major New York area brewery during the first half of the 20th century. Founded by Jacob Ruppert, Sr and later owned by his son Col. Jacob Jr., who was also owner of the New York Yankees during their 1920’s dynasty and is the person who bought Babe Ruth in 1919 from Harry Frazee’s Boston Red Sox and began “the curse of the Bambino.” Ruppert, Jr. (seen below) was also a NY Representative to Congress and president of the Astoria Silk Works.
