I wonder what vintage this ad is – I remember in the early 1980s being very impressed this sort of white-out ribbon, is the ad from the 1970s?
I like your WIlliamsburg(h) photos a lot, as I have roots in Victorian Williamsburgh (and Fort Greene/Navy Yard area) – and my grandmother was born in the 1880s in Bed-Stuy.
Quite possibly early 70s. It has held up pretty well. Thanks for your comments about the Willy-B pics. You really have deep Brooklyn roots!
You are looking at the manufacturing facilities of Barouh Eaton Allen Corp. (a/k/a Ko REc Type Corp.) Ko Rec Type was a revolutionary product developed in the early 1960’s- a specially formulated correction composition was adhered to a formulated paper. When you made a typo on a manual typewriter, you simply placed the piece of Ko Rec Type over the typo, and corrected it. Very neat, very clean corrections resulted. The company then developed a complete line of correction and imaging products for electronic and self correcting typewriters. The original Ko Rec Type correction paper still sells today. The company has changed with the times, and is now a leading compatible manufacturer of imaging products including ink jet carts, laser toners and fax thermal ribbons. They can be reached at 718.782-2601
Wow- Thanks for the extensive background Robert. Don’t mind the sales pitch. I can understand with the advent of the computer, the typewriter has become obsolete and your company needed to expand in the market to stay competitive. Thanks for visiting this site.

I was recently notified that KO-REC-TYPE will close its doors at the end of 2008. The end of an era.
