Ik ben verbaasd over de hoeveelheid materiaal waarover je blijkbaar beschikt. Deze foto’s zijn prachtig qua belichting en compositie.
Dank u zeer (meneer?) mevrouw! Is Steffie jou naam? Of Wissel? Ik heb aan jou fotos ook gekeken op steffie’s wereld. Prachtig!
This was my family’s business. Founded in 1903, this was our second location. We were in Red Hook until my grandfather, Victor LeComte, moved the plant to 147 – 41st Street in Bush Terminal in 1933. The company remained there until my father, Douglas LeComte and I moved the plant to Roselle, NJ in 1987. The company closed in 1993.
That was my family’s business; it later moved to Bay Ridge.
Edward & Richard- If you have any other pics of inside the business or if there is any signage remaining from the location to where you moved, let me know. I would love to post them and shoot any remnants to document the history of your business.
Best,
Frank
I lived in Brooklyn Heights for 5 years and had no idea how close I was to another LeComte. I’ll have to go check out the building the next time I’m in town.
My “Queripel” Line that came from Forest. Guernsey, Channel Islands to New York, NJ areas in 1816. Had Father Samuel Queripel b 1769, sons, Samuel Priaulx, Henry, Job and Joseph. Daughters Rachel, Caroline, Marthe, Marguerite.
Two of the Queripel sisters married two Lecomte/ Le Compte brothers: Nicholas and Vincent.
A response I got from Tonya Hunting:
Nicholas LeComte, from Bordeux France. He arrived in New york around the 1820’s. He married Rachel Queripel, from Guernsey, Channel islands.
Nicholas’ brother Vincent married Rachel’s sister. I dont know her name.
Nicholas and Rachel had six children: Samuel, Vincent N., Rachel, Nicholas, Joseph, and Henry. Hope that helps. Anyone have info on Rachel, or her sister? Tonya
The Queripel men became prominent business owners in NYC. Coal Yards, “American Honduras Co”/ Mahogany imports from South America. They are in print, Newspapers, Financial pages, Real Estate, Bank Records, Trade Journals, etc.
Regards,
Arlene Binger Baer [Descended from Jean Queripel abt 1717, Jean Queripel Jr. b 1737, Samuel W. Queripel b 1769, Henry Queripel b 1803 All Guernsey born, then Henry Jean Queripel b 1834 NY, Emma Queripel b 1854 NY, Emma Theny Hambrook b 1884 NY, Walter Wesley Binger b 1907 NY]
