do you have other Red Hook signs in your files? Our organization is researching NYC’s first maritime heritage trail and the signs reveal presence of past businesses we’d like to know about.
pls email mail@portsidenewyork.org

I sure do! I’ve been posting these Brooklyn images from 1998 in alpha order. But I have lots from Red Hook!

[…] Le Comte & Co., Inc. – Wolcott & Ferris […]
This was my family’s business. Founded in 1903, this was our second location. We were in Red Hook until my grandfather, Victor LeComte, moved the plant to 147 – 41st Street in Bush Terminal in 1933. The company remained there until my father, Douglas LeComte and I moved the plant to Roselle, NJ in 1987. The company closed in 1993.
This is my family’s former business; it later moved to Bay Ridge.
Thank you LeComte family for commenting! The historical information is appreciated and valued!
Best,
Frank
